DVD Fest 2008
New: DVD Fest 2008 Films have been posted!

DVD Fest 2008 was the seventh annual student-produced short film festival held at Carleton College. The festival began in 2002 with only nine films, and has grown to be one of the highest-attended and most-anticipated events during Winter Term on the Carleton campus. 2006 was the largest festival ever, with 37 films entered. In 2007, an outstanding group of 32 films of unprecedented quality took part in the competition.

The festival each year is put on entirely by students from the Carleton Macintosh User Group. This group is a CSA chartered organization that promotes the Macintosh community on-campus. CarlMug receives funding from the Dean of Students office as well as the CSA for the production of DVD Fest each year. This year we are also very excited to continue a close partnership with Carleton's PEPS department, which will make the logistical coordination of the festival much easier.

The festival also would not be possible without the gracious support of Apple.

Four Weeks to a Masterpiece

They say genius takes patience, but we don't have any time for that at Carleton. Just take a look at our festival schedule to see what we mean. Each team is given only a total of four weeks to brainstorm, write, direct, produce, and edit their film. After having two weeks to register a team of not less than five people, students are then given two weeks to shoot and edit their films. Films are submitted digitally to the DVD Fest staff. The films are then judged by a panel of Carleton alums, faculty, and staff during DVD Fest 2008 Premiere Night.

"Last year's films were so 2007..."

Don't forget about the past films! They are a great place to get ideas for next year. Also, they all are a great watch!
